Managing LinkedIn Groups

MyLinkWikiGroupPages : Our comprehensive list of directories and everything you wanted to know about being a LinkedIn group member, running such a group, and other related networking groups.

LinkedIn's philosophy is that LinkedIn groups are offshoots of existing, typically real world, organizations. LinkedIn is not intended to be used a marketing vehicle for your group, but to piggyback on a group's existing communications and marketing.

Growing your group

  • Contact current non-LinkedIn group members. You're supposed to do that as part of the Group agreement with LinkedIn.
  • Include the group URL on your web site, group email, and of course our MyLinkWiki Directory!
  • Solicit LinkedIn group members to invite their associates
  • Use LinkedIn Introductions. You can invite about 50 people per month if you have a business account and actively manage your 15 Introductions (kill stale Introductions that are 1-2 weeks old).

Managing your group

1. Welcome new members. LinkedIn doesn't make this easy. Email address are displayed for new applicants. If you have a few new members, you can cut and paste their addresses. If you have a lot, you need to use Software to extract email addresses and use mailing list software or service to send out the mailing. See Software.

2. Regularly contact group members. LinkedIn now enables owners to export their group member list. You can then use mailing list software or service to send out a mailing. See Software.
